Unbelievable Season...

Well...I hate to say it...but the Lady Wildcats lost in the NAIA Semifinals tonight...by one.  Do you know how much that hurts?

A lot.

This has been a great season for the Wildcats and they achieved a lot of goals.  I will say this...this was my first year of covering the Lady Wildcats for both TV and radio...and I really consider it an honor.  Although the team didn't win a national championship...they set an example for how I want to live my life.

These players honor God on and off the court...the team unity is solid...and they have never heard of the word "clique"...they play on the court as one...and live off the court as one.  What a statement to a team.

I do look forward to the next two years I will have covering the team for the TV station and radio station...I look forward to maybe covering them again in the National Tournament...and this time...win a national championship.

From an educational standpoint...I've learned alot...about writing scripts...dealing with editing software...enjoying a Mac computer...and being able to cover a sporting event.

It's a dream come true for me...and I thank everyone back at WIWU-TV and WIWU-FM and Indiana Wesleyan University...for letting me...a 20-year old sophomore...cover something so huge...

And thanks to all the fans back in Grant County...if you ever get a chance to come out and support the team you love in a national tournament...do it...don't miss an opportunity as great as this.

Thanks to all the Wildcat players and coaches for allowing us to cover your team...as close as we did.  That's another reason why this is such an awesome team.

I look forward to next year!  And I will always be proud...to call myself an Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcat.

Up Next...The E.O.U. Mountaineers

Now that the Wildcats have one victory under their belt it's time to look ahead.  With that in mind, here's a quick scouting report on the Eastern Oregon Mountaineers:

  • Record of 24-8
  • Defeated Davenport Univ. 74-69 in the first round.
  • Finished second in the Cascade Conference.
  • Top player is  Jordan Gregg.  He averages 20 points and 8 rebounds per game.  Gregg was also first team all conference.
  • Dan Stafford was also first team all conference and averages 15 points per game.
  • They are 12-1 when holding teams under 70 points.
It will be another big test for Indiana Wesleyan.  Here's hoping for a win and another trip to the Elite 8 for the Wildcats!
